Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) has recognised the achievements of more than 130 student athletes during this year’s virtual Primary Sports Awards ceremony.

Seven young rising sports stars were also lauded during the ceremony on Friday 3 December.

Hosted by Damien Kerr, Manager: Pre to Post Sport at SCS, the Primary Sports Awards also featured guest appearances from Kim Green (former Australian netballer and St Patrick’s College Sutherland alumna) and Michael Ennis (former NSW rugby league star and current Fox Sports presenter).

Seven students were presented with sport medallions after demonstrating a remarkable level of representation in their chosen sports throughout 2021.

Each student represented MacKillop on three or more occasions and/or were selected into a NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (NSWPSSA) State merit team during the school year.

The Primary Sports Awards also recognised 130 students who represented MacKillop during the school year. They will each be presented with a certificate of achievement during presentations in their schools.

Mr Kerr said the awards were a fantastic way to cap off another successful year for sport in our schools.

“Although we would have liked to gather together in person, we are grateful that we could celebrate as a virtual community,” Mr Kerr said.

“Even with the disruptions of 2021, we still had a large number of students who went above and beyond in their chosen sports. So it was important to recognise their hard work and achievements.”

Mr Kerr said new and existing students could look forward to “some new and exciting things on the horizon in 2022”.

“We’re looking forward to what will be an even bigger and better year for sport,” he added.
